LIEPSNELĖ (Erithacus rubecula)
Nesunkiai atpažįstamas paukštelis – tokią liepsną ant krūtinės turi tik liepsnelės. Ši miškų giesmininkė dažna ir Lietuvoje, tačiau Vakarų Europoje, ypač Didžiojoje Britanijoje, dažniau gyvena miestuose ir gyvenvietėse, todėl britai paskelbė liepsnelę savo nacionaliniu paukščiu. Nors liepsnelės nėra labai išrankios maistui – noriai mėgaujasi tiek įvairiausiomis uogomis, tiek vabzdžiais ir voragyviais, mūsų žiemos joms vis dar per atšiaurios, todėl dauguma šių dailių sparnuočių rudeniop pasitraukia link Viduržemio jūros ir sugrįžta tik balandžio mėnesį.
Liepsnelės yra prietemos ir nakties paukščiai. Migracijų metu jos aktyviausiai skrenda naktį –pakyla virš medžių viršūnių ir plasnoja savo tikslo link, nepaisydamos visiškos tamsos. Gieda taip pat aktyviau vėlyvais vakarais ir ankstyvais rytais. Neretą pavasario ar vasaros rytą, kuomet visi paukščiai dar miega, o dangus žvaigždėtas, galima išgirsti melodingą liepsnelės giesmę, kuri tarsi nutapo nakties tamsą įvairiausiomis spalvomis, sklindančiomis iš šios giesmininkės krūtinės.
